Newcomers to the Schutzhund Sport can sometimes find themselves confused when it comes to the abbreviations and acronyms they encounter in the programs, rules and regulations and in the associated documentary material, and of course there is also the forms. Sometimes, the more seasoned competitors can’t remember what they stand for either! Especially when so many of them are based on words and terms from another language (usually German)!

Schutzhund is an exciting three-phase sport, based on a series of standard tests designed to examine and prove the breed-worthiness of German Shepherd Dogs. The three phases are fundamentally different from each other and concentrate on the attributes which are innate ingredients in the primary breed objectives.
